From July 7, 2021, to April 26, 2023, Priority Kids led the Calls to Action Series, a 94-week commitment to truth and reconciliation. Each week, we gathered to read a Call to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Report and watched a short film by an Indigenous filmmaker.
We are deeply honored to have been part of this journey.
Why This Action Mattered
Following the 2021 discovery of unmarked graves at former residential school sites, Indigenous voices emphasized two critical themes:
- This was not new information. Many Indigenous people expressed frustration that these deaths had long been documented but largely ignored. They feared media attention would fade—and with it, public concern.
- The 94 Calls to Action needed to be heard. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission laid out a clear path toward meaningful reconciliation. Indigenous leaders urged Canadians to read and act on these Calls.
In response, Priority Kids launched the Calls to Action Series—a space for learning, reflection, and commitment to ongoing reconciliation.
What We Learned Together
This series was designed to provide a safe and accessible space to listen, learn, and prepare for meaningful reconciliation. Through weekly gatherings, we:
- Read and reflected on each of the 94 Calls to Action.
- Watched short films by Indigenous filmmakers, amplifying Indigenous voices and perspectives.
- Created a consistent, public space for truth and reconciliation conversations.
What’s Next?
Though the Calls to Action Series has concluded, our commitment to reconciliation continues.
We invite you to sign up to receive an invitation to our next Truth and Reconciliation initiative when it launches.
Reconciliation is ongoing, and we remain dedicated to learning, listening, and taking action.
